Emotional Intelligence

What is Emotional Intelligence? How can it help me? My team? Our Company?

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a well-established set of emotional and social skills that contribute significantly to performance, engagement and success. Emotional Intelligence aids the ability to understand yourself, and others – to identify your feelings and how to use them appropriately in any situation. The use of Emotional Intelligence influences the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.

Why is it so important?

Emotional Intelligence is proven to be a key indicator of human performance and development. Emotional Intelligence can be substantially strengthened and developed. Having effective levels of Emotional Intelligence allows you to build relationships, to influence people and manage your own and others’ emotions.

Understanding how to motivate yourself, manage stress, inspire the people around you, and live a happy healthy lifestyle is crucial to achieving personal effectiveness.

If you would like to learn more about Emotional Intelligence, we have a 15-part guide that can help you understand this complex subject.

Overview

Most companies experience situations where a leader shows great strengths in core competencies necessary for the role but may be exhibiting some blind spots around Emotional Intelligence. Or, a company has some employee’s that show great work ethic and are emerging stars amongst their peers, while showing comparable traits of leaders within the organisation.

In both scenarios, Emotional Intelligence in Leadership can be used to enhance leadership development, executive development and coaching, in the process of developing high potential leaders. The Emotional Intelligence in Leadership workshop uses the EQi-2:0 Leadership Report to examine results through four key dimensions: Authenticity, Coaching, Insight, and Innovation. The report also contains insights on the possible implications of results, and which skills have the highest potential of becoming leadership weaknesses. Strategies for development will be provided with the aim to attain true leadership potential, while being able to compare results against top leaders as a benchmark.

  • Identify areas in which your leadership capabilities excel and helps fuel organisational and personal performance.
  • Flag skills in need of development in order to prioritise strategies for growth.
  • Examine how low scored for specific Emotional Intelligence traits may hinder leadership success.
  • Compare results to those exceptional leaders who demonstrate high Emotional Intelligence.
  • Focus development efforts in areas where you scored lower than other leaders, in order to improve Leadership Capabilities.
